24th February 2016 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Beginning of the school day

Following the Governors meeting this week, it was agreed that a member of staff will be present on the playground from 8.45am. They will supervise the children entering the playground and into the school ready for their morning tasks. Teachers will be in the classrooms to welcome pupils from 8.45am. Any pupils on the school site before this time remain the responsibility of parents. If your child needs supervision before 8.45am then please book them into the morning club which runs every morning from 7.45am.

Electronic devices

There have been many discussions held with staff, school’s council and Governors regarding pupils bringing electronic devices into school.

We do appreciate that these can offer many educational benefits and that technology which children enjoy using to help their learning is to be encouraged. However, we have an overriding duty to safeguard our pupils. As many devices connect to the internet they would not go through our filters which for obvious reasons are very strict. We would simply not be in a position to police every device, as would be required of us. Our current policy of not permitting children to bring in their own devices is consistent with other local primary schools, however we will keep the issue under review. Because of the benefit that devices can bring we are looking to purchase some for the school which we can monitor to ensure pupils’ safety.

We are nearly there with our Broadband connection, we just need a couple of volunteers to dig a trench for us onto the school site. If you think you could help with this please contact the school office so that we can arrange a convenient time.

Sainsbury’s vouchers

The sports voucher scheme has begun. There is a collection box in the school entrance hall.
