Newsletter 13th March

Dear Parent/Guardian
Parents open evening
The next open evenings will be held on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th March. This is still an opportunity for your children to share their work with you and talk to you about their learning. We are also giving you an opportunity to have a set time to talk to the teacher if you wish. The 10 minute meetings will be held in the classrooms. A letter will be sent home this week with your appointment times if you have requested a meeting with the teacher.
Books for breakfast
Thank you so much to everyone who came along at the beginning and/or at the end of the day to share books and reading time with the children. This event was really well supported and we raised £89.86 to send to Book Aid.
Science Week
This week is science week and over the course of the week the pupils will be involved in devising and carrying out experiments of their choice in small groups. You are invited to come into school on Friday 15th from 2pm to visit the classrooms and find out what the children have been investigating. One of the investigations will be selected to be entered for the Science Oxford Big Science Event. Miss Giggins will also be sending home some fun science activities for the children to try at home and an information sheet for you to discuss with your child about the use of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in your workplace.
Red nose day
The Dance Off was great fun on Monday morning, excellently led by Ruby and Samantha. The children are invited to come to school in red mufti clothes on Friday 15th March to celebrate this fundraising event. A donation of £1 would be appreciated. We have received a message from First News to say that they hope to feature our school in First News this Friday and on FYI, their children’s news show on Sky News which goes out on Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am (and is on demand on Sky Kids). From next Tuesday you can also view it at Thank you to everyone for an amazing effort!
Celebration assembly
Our celebration assemblies are now in full swing. We have a crèche for younger children to attend so that they don’t disturb the worship time. Everyone is welcome to join us. The children from each class will share some of their current learning, the dates for this are 15th March- year 3/4, 22nd March- year 5/6, 29th March- year 1/2, 5th April- Easter Service in church.
Please can you ensure that dogs are not brought onto the school site and that they are kept on leads outside the school. Please tie them up away from the gate so that children can enter and exit easily.
Gardening club
Mrs Little would like some help with the gardening club on Monday lunchtimes from 12-12.30pm. If you are able to offer some time to help please let us know.
