This term we are continuing to use the topic web system for Learning Logs. This means that you only need to complete one objective each week in your Learning Log alongside reading, times tables and RM Maths. The Topic Web gives you a selection of activities to do and allows you flexibility to choose which ones you would like to do and when. The Topic Web can be found by clicking on Topic Web autumn 2017 at the top of this page and a weekly activities checklist for you to use is stuck in the back of the Learning Log.
The Learning Logs will continue to be handed out on Thursdays and collected in the following Wednesday.
Please come and see me if you are unsure what to do.
On-going maths activities
Tell the time to the minute using both analogue and digital clocks.
Please encourage your child to log in to RM Maths and try the activities as much as possible to practise their maths skills (user names and passwords remain the same as last year).
Practise the multiplication tables.
On-going English activities
Read as much as you can and record it in your Reading Record/Reading Journal. This year I am asking the children to record more of their thoughts about what they are reading and so have provided them with prompts to respond to and record in their books after they read with you. I am also introducing Star Reader and this reading journal work will contribute towards this. Here is the link for the prompts. Year 3 & 4 reading journal prompts
I have added these documents if you would like to use them. Here is a list of all the spellings that the children are expected to know by the end of year four: Word List for Years 3 and 4 statutory-spellings-years-3-and-4-word-mat-cursive. Please use them to help your child practise and refresh their reading and spelling knowledge. If you have any questions about this then please come in and see me. I have also added these links to help support learning the spellings.
I have also added links to the Phonics Play website for those children who would like to consolidate their Phase 5 and 6 spelling knowledge and they can play the interactive games to support their learning. Many of the games are free to use but some require a subscription.
