Dear Parent/Guardian,

PTA

We are now making plans for the Christmas Bazaar which will run after school this year on Thursday 19th December. Many thanks for the bottles and chocolates which were donated today. We run a “secrets room” where the children can go without their parents and chose a gift which we then wrap up ready for Christmas. This way they have a secret gift to give. We would be very grateful for any unwanted items which could become gifts for someone else. We also will be collecting any children’s gifts which are wrapped and labelled with what age they are appropriate for and whether they are for a boy, girl or either. On the day any donation of cakes for the refreshments room would be welcome. The year 5 and 6 children will also be selling their enterprise week goods.

We are hoping to raise money for some new reading books, specifically with a phonics focus, and a new music scheme which we have been trialling recently.

Warm clothing

Please can you ensure that your children have sufficiently warm clothing to wear outside at playtime. The children will go outside in most weathers so coats, hats and gloves are important. They also need warm PE kits for outdoor PE, and may want gloves for this too.

Christmas production

Rehearsals are well under way for the YR, 1 and 2 Christmas production. This will run on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th December at 2pm. Once everyone has had the opportunity to purchase their tickets, any remaining tickets will be available on Parentpay from Monday 9th December.

Christmas crafts breakfast

You are invited to come and share in some Christmas crafts with your children over a drink and pastry on Friday 13th December from 8.15-9.30am.

Christmas party

On Wednesday 18th December the children are invited to come to school in party clothes. They will have some fun activities during the day and a party snack in the afternoon.

Sports festivals

A number of children have participated in various sports festivals and matches after school this term. We are proud of how well they have all played and participated with enthusiasm and respect. We really value the opportunity which this gives the children to compete against other schools and meet new people along the way. It is however a big ask of staff to attend these events on such a regular basis. We will be asking parents to transport their children to these events in the New Year to help out.

Woodwind lessons

Rob Clarke is a specialist music teacher who comes into school to teach individual woodwind lessons.  He offers teaching for all woodwind instruments for children in KS2 and also recorder lessons for Y2 children. If you are interested in any of these please contact the school office for more information.

Celebration Assembly

Everyone is welcome to attend our celebration assemblies, where we celebrate children’s successes both in and out of the classroom. Each class will take it in turns to share some of their learning. This will be on Friday afternoons at 2.40pm-3.00pm.The dates on which the classes will be sharing their learning are; 6/12-Y5 and 6, 13/12- YR,1,2 production, 10/01-Y3/4, 17/01- Y1/2, 24/01- YR, 31/01- Y5/6. Please remember that this is the children’s time of worship for the day and we ask you to respect that. There is a crèche available for younger children in the YR classroom to ensure that the children can be heard as they share their hard work with everyone.

Food allergies

Please be mindful that we have children in school with nut allergies. We ask that you do not put items with nuts or nut products into lunchboxes.

Housekeeping

Please can you do a regular check of your children’s hair and treat them should you need to for headlice.

Please can you ensure that your children’s clothes are all labelled, we can return them straight to their owner as soon as it is found if it is named.
