Dear Parent/Guardian,

Individual and family photographs

The photographer will be in school after half term on Wednesday 26th February. If you would like any younger siblings to be photographed with your children in school please come to school at 8.45am and we will take these photos first.

Parents meeting

On Friday 28th February we are running a phonics and reading meeting at 9am, with coffee from 8.45am, for parents of children in YR and KS1.

World Book Day

On World Book Day – Thursday 5th March, we are holding our books for breakfast event when parents/grandparents are invited to come to school and read with your children as well as share a drink and pastry. This is an opportunity for you to drop in from 8.15-9.15am. Please let us know if you would like to attend so that we can get numbers for catering. During that week each class will be learning a poem and working from it. On Friday 6th March the classes will take it in turns to recite their poems in celebration assembly. All parents are invited to join us at the regular time of 2.40pm and the children will take it in turns to perform.

Home Learning

“Spelling Frame” is a simple website that which supports the children in Years 1 to 6 to practice their spellings.

Use the list of age groups to choose your Year Group and then find the list of words which your child can practice. You can choose to practise a set of words, take a test or play a game with those words. If you practise you will see the word broken down into the syllables and will then be given a series of activities to help you memorise the spelling. If you then spell the word correctly you move onto the next word. If you make a mistake you repeat the process to help you to learn the word.

You will also find on the website a list of recommended reading books for each year group which can act as a guide to help you and your child select good quality books to read, appropriate for their age.

After many years of service on the Governing Board, Sue Chadbund has stepped down from the role. If you are interested in joining the board, and helping to lead the school forward in a strategic capacity, we would love to hear from you. You do not need to have a background in education just a desire to help keep the school running successfully and moving forward.

On Wednesday 18th March the PTA are running their quiz night. If you want to join in please fill in a form which has been emailed out or ask at the school office. £10 a ticket which includes a meal too. The next children’s disco is on Friday 24th April more information will follow.

Open Evenings

Following feedback from parents last year we have again decided to offer appointment times at the open evenings in the spring term. These will be held on Monday 16th March and Tuesday 17th March. More details will follow nearer the time. Your child will bring home a full report on Friday 6th March.

We are very grateful to Mrs Roe who has run our library for a number of years, and to Mrs Trueman who has offered to step into the role so that the children can continue to choose library books to take home each week.

We have been informed by Bucks Fire & Rescue that following an incident outside a school last week they were delayed reaching a vehicle that was on fire due to poor parking by parents/carers at school pick up. They have asked us to share this information so could you please park considerately when dropping off or picking up your children.

Celebration assembly

Our celebration assemblies are held each Friday at 2.40pm. We have a crèche for younger children to attend so that they don’t disturb the worship time. Everyone is welcome to join us. The children from each class will share some of their current learning, the dates for this are 14/2- Young carers, 28/2-Y3+4, 6/3- poetry day, 13/3-Y1+2, 20/3- R, 27/3-Y5+6, 3/4- Easter service. This is a slight change from the dates in the last newsletter.
